Jul 31, 2023'I tried a £265 coffee - but it was ruined by ice cubes and left me broke' | UK | News | Express.co.uk
A social media influencer spent an eye-watering £265 on a coffee - but was left totally underwhelmed. Carmie Sellitto, who has 358,000 followers on Instagram, said the London coffee "looked like a normal iced latte" that had been diluted by cheap ice cubes.
He visited the speciality coffee bar Shot, located on Berkeley Street in Mayfair, which is famous for its finest topica beans shipped in from Japan. According to the Mayfair London website, Shot "transforms each coffee outing into a luxurious affair" and sources high-quality beans from around the world.

Carmie, 26, opted for the £265 latte which was served to him in a tall glass with a gold straw. The waiter even wore gloves to bring the glass to over to his table.
The influencer said: "I am trying the £265 coffee in London. And yes you heard that right - it's a £265 coffee!" According to Shot's menu, the coffee has "bright acidity and fruity, juicy notes".
He said: "Apparently they have to wear these specific gloves when serving this coffee because it's so expensive. I have never experienced anything like this. It just looked like a normal iced latte."
After an initial look at the coffee, Carmie said: "I think I seriously wasted my money here." He then tasted it and said the amount of flavour "caught him off guard", giving him goosebumps.
He said: "The amount of flavour I had going on in my mouth really caught me off guard. I have never tried something like this before. I got goosebumps - it tasted crazy. It didn't even taste like coffee. It tasted like some sort of fruit. And then it hit me, I'm actually broke after this."
However, he then said the ice was starting to dilute the flavour of the coffee. He said it "seemed cheap" and "ruined" the outrageously priced drink.
Carmie said: "Each sip I was taking was probably around £25. Considering the coffee was so expensive, the ice just seemed cheap. It was melting so quick and kind of ruined the coffee.
"So I did the right thing and downed my drink before it started tasting like tap water. This was one of the weirdest experiences I've had in my life and I didn't feel good after it because I got hit by the £270 bill. I'm going to rate the coffee a 5 out of 10."
